ESG seeks to understand and reduce negative impacts.
Impact aims to create a positive contribution.
Through our impact strategy, we invest where products and services are expected to contribute positively to defined sustainability goals, based on our Impact Pathways methodology: to decarbonisation, more efficient use of resources, or the reduction of structural inequalities. We look for business models that can scale their impact, succeed in competitive markets and operate in sectors with long-term impact potential.
Our focus: global relevance.
Our impact strategy targets investments in companies whose products and services make a measurable contribution to climate change mitigation, biodiversity preservation and the reduction of global inequality. Contributions are assessed through Golding's Impact Pathways framework and SDG-related indicators. From this, we derive our key investment themes: renewable energy, resource efficiency, food and agricultural technologies, and financial inclusion.
What we look for in impact investments:
Scalability
because impact reaches its full potential when it can grow
Competitiveness
because sustainable solutions must prove themselves in the market over the long term
Relevance
because the world's greatest challenges offer the greatest potential for meaningful impact
Impact is created through clarity and consistency.

Investing in business models with sustainable impact.
At the heart of our impact strategy are business models whose products and services are expected to contribute measurable benefits according to defined impact indicators. Over 96% of the portfolio companies in the Golding Impact 2021 fund make a positive contribution to at least two SDGs, according to our assessment (as of 31 December 2025). Examples include:
- Alternatives to certain chemicals, pesticides, or packaging materials
- Technologies that drive the energy transition and deliver real value
- Companies improving their footprint through technological upgrades
- Companies reshaping their product portfolios towards sustainability, including through acquisitions
- Regulatory frameworks and policy developments that accelerate sustainable solutions
- Markets and customer segments where sustainability is becoming a defining factor
