SuperReturn Europe 2024

The SuperReturn Private Credit Europe 2024 was held in March 2024 in London. Over 500 high-profile guests attended the event, including 170+ limited partners (LPs) and 200+ general partners (GPs). At the conference, 80 speakers provided their perspectives on the performance of private credit, assessed macroeconomic trends and discussed new investment opportunities. Amongst the most important topics were secondaries, asset-backed lending, specialty finance and ESG.

Jakob Schramm, Partner & Head of Private Credit at Golding, discussed on the podium the “state of play in the current fundraising environment”.

Jakob Schramm evaluated the current situation and cautious attitude of LPs: “Distressed and special situations come up more frequently now in discussions with clients. We can discuss at length whether distressed managers can time the market, but it’s clear that this is even more difficult for clients who decide to use these strategies. Instead, we should build up a broadly diversified credit exposure, covering between 15 percent and 20 percent distressed debt, so that we stay invested over the whole cycle.”

Golding Capital Partners invests worldwide. Over 90 percent of the capital originates from German institutional clients. Searching for the most attractive risk-return profile in the various strategies we invest in has always been our top priority, continues Jakob Schramm. Regulation and ESG criteria are also becoming increasingly important. “Especially for our clients in Germany, ESG is top of the agenda and is now actually influencing investment decisions.”
