New prospects in private credit

Private credit has become an established part of institutional portfolios in recent years. While the focus has been on low-risk senior direct lending strategies, opportunistic approaches are increasingly coming to the fore.

Credit opportunities strategies exploit market inefficiencies and offer attractive opportunities in terms of diversification and returns. Investors can invest in bridge financing and the acquisition of existing loans with or without balance sheet restructuring – with the aim of combining capital protection and attractive returns.

The current market environment favors these strategies: rising interest rates, economic uncertainties and stricter banking regulations are creating more investment opportunities for specialized credit funds. The challenge lies in the targeted selection and active management of these investments – an area in which specialized fund managers deliver clear added value.
