In a market environment characterized by limited exit options and selective liquidity, General Partners (GPs) are increasingly turning to continuation funds to further develop high-quality companies – often so-called trophy assets – rather than being forced to sell under time pressure.

For investors, these funds offer access to established portfolios with proven value creation, without the risk of a blind pool, and potentially more attractive risk-return profiles. At the same time, however, the demands on all parties involved are rising: thorough valuation, independent fairness opinions, and clearly structured, transparent processes are essential for the success of such transactions – particularly for institutional investors such as insurers and pension funds.
