AIGILITY – From Information to Judgement

Making investment decisions today means navigating an environment more complex than ever before. Geopolitical tensions, economic shifts, technological disruption and evolving regulation are reshaping capital markets simultaneously. This question therefore ran throughout this year's Golding Investor Days: How do good decisions emerge in a world where the rules are constantly changing?

Under the theme "AIGILITY. Clarity to decide. Courage to act.", around 120 institutional investors gathered in Munich to explore different perspectives on this very question. Whether discussing macroeconomic developments, technological innovation or practical investment experience, all conversations revolved around a common theme: How do we create clarity in an increasingly complex world?

Gaining perspecitve

Jeremy Golding opened the Investor Days with a thought that shaped the discussions throughout the event: information alone does not create clarity. What matters is the ability to turn information into judgement. As artificial intelligence continues to evolve at remarkable speed, this capability is becoming increasingly important. For Golding, this is the essence of a Creative Mindset: bringing together different perspectives, recognising patterns and transforming complexity into informed decisions.

This idea was echoed in Christian Lindner's keynote. He described a world in which geopolitical and economic power shifts are permanently changing the framework for investment decisions. Resilience, diversification and strategic adaptability are therefore no longer short-term responses to uncertainty but essential prerequisites for long-term success. Volatile markets, he argued, continue to create attractive opportunities – provided investors are willing to continually reassess their perspectives.

Daniel Boege expanded on this idea later in the day with a simple yet powerful statement: "Forecasts do not create clarity. Scenarios do." Investors today are searching less for certainty than for orientation. Success depends not on predicting the future correctly, but on preparing for different scenarios, evaluating them carefully and translating them into sound investment decisions.

Axel Hefer demonstrated that this challenge extends well beyond capital markets. As Chairman of the Supervisory Board of FC Schalke 04, he shared insights into competition, leadership and decision-making under pressure, offering a perspective from corporate leadership that complemented many of the themes discussed throughout the day.

Judgement in practice

The discussions on private markets demonstrated how these principles translate into investment practice. Whether in Buyout, Infrastructure, Secondaries or Private Credit, the case studies made one thing clear: successful investing today requires far more than market knowledge. Access to the right partners, rigorous analysis and the ability to identify emerging developments at an early stage have become increasingly important. Diversification was viewed not simply as broad portfolio allocation, but as a strategic capability to anticipate different market developments and build resilient portfolios.

Another key focus of the Investor Days was the application of artificial intelligence across the entire investment process. Rather than discussing technology for its own sake, the emphasis was placed on its practical value. New approaches to reporting, investment research and data analytics demonstrated how AI is already helping investors identify patterns more quickly, improve transparency and prepare better-informed decisions.

One conviction resonated throughout almost every discussion: the more powerful technology becomes, the more important human judgement will be. Artificial intelligence can organise information, model scenarios and reveal connections, but responsibility for investment decisions ultimately remains with people. Or, as was repeatedly said during the event: "In the end, people make the decisions."

The sessions on regulatory developments and fund structuring also highlighted that today's investment decisions extend far beyond markets and technology. International investing takes place within an increasingly complex regulatory and tax environment. Golding sees its role precisely here: identifying complexity, providing clarity and translating it into investable solutions.

Perhaps this was the most important takeaway from the Golding Investor Days 2026. As diverse as the topics and perspectives were, they all returned to the same fundamental question: How do we create clarity in an increasingly complex world? The answers ranged from geopolitical diversification and the intelligent application of new technologies to experience, dialogue and long-term thinking. Yet they all shared one conviction: clarity does not exist at the beginning of the decision-making process. It emerges through the exchange of different perspectives.

That is what AIGILITY stands for: embracing change with confidence, turning information into judgement and acting decisively on that foundation.

Clarity to decide. Courage to act.
